National Archaeological Museum of Formia

The National Archaeological Museum of Formia occupies a wing of the 18th-century municipal palace, known as the 'Stalloni dei Borbone'.

The collection consists mainly of sculptures of a high artistic level, dating from the first century B.C. to the second century A.D., the period of the city's greatest flowering. These are male and female statues of honorary character, erected by distinguished members of Formian society and imperial family figures found mainly in the area of the ancient forum.

There are also architectural elements, grave goods and paintings of divinities and mythological scenes, created to decorate the numerous nearby luxurious seaside.

The museum can be reached by car or by train, the station is 400 m from the museum.

The museum does not have its own parking, but nearby there are both outdoor (blue stripe) and indoor paid parking under municipal jurisdiction.
