Giorgio Grognet, Pierre Adrien Pâris, the "pelasgic question" and Palestrina
Palestrina (RM)
On Friday, March 1 at 5 p.m., the series of meetings "Praeneste. Archaeology, Research and Restoration," curated by Director Daniela De Angelis.
The first series of appointments is dedicated to various aspects of Praeneste's history, seen through the different research and study methodologies used, from archaeological excavation to restoration, passing through the study of historical and iconographic sources.
This second meeting will take place at the National Archaeological Museum in Palestrina and will be given by Professor Massimiliano Valenti, who will illustrate the so-called "Pelasgic question."
In a lecture given in 1813, and which has remained unpublished, the Maltese architect Giorgio Grognet de Vassé addressed the problem of polygonal walls and their chronological and cultural framing ("pelasgic question"), also producing some valuable drawings, including one related to Palestrina, with obvious points of contact with Pierre-Adrien Pâris, who in turn had given a lecture on the subject, also unpublished.
We look forward to seeing you there!
