Farnese Palace - Caprarola

Project "Farnese Palace in Caprarola. Energy efficiency improvement interventions."

NRP, Mission 1 Digitization, Innovation, Competitiveness and Culture; Component 3 Culture 4.0 (M1C3); Measure 1 Cultural Heritage for Next Generation; Investment 1.3 Improve energy efficiency in cinemas, theaters and museums. Funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU and managed by the Ministry of Culture.

The project related to Palazzo Farnese contemplates, in addition to the upgrading of the current heat production systems, which are now outdated, the overhaul and partial replacement of fixtures in order to limit and improve heat loss. Another area of intervention aims to contain electricity consumption, with the replacement and overhaul of lighting systems with low-consumption lamps and centralized control systems. The museum is traditionally open 6/7 days a week, and has always ensured opening on the full daily time slot (open from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm); a factor that makes waste reduction and energy saving of utmost importance, due to the high incidence of lighting costs and, only partially, of heating the facility in the winter period. The primary objective is the systematization of all the areas that make up the monumental complex-palace, gardens and mansion-with the re-functionalization of the spaces still not open to the public and not usable.
