Giacomo Manzù Museum

The Friends of Manzù Collection was first conceived in 1965 by the artist’s, wife Inge Schabel, with the help of the Friends of Manzù Committee. Inaugurated in 1969, the Collection includes about ninety sculptures, drawings, engravings and theatrical sketches. Among the most interesting themes are those related to dance and the set of sketches, drawings and sculpture on a female theme. The large group of “Lovers” in bronze is enchanting, the major work in his "cycle" of Lovers, which Manzù began in 1965. The Museum has seven examples, all in bronze, in which the female nude is exalted and celebrated.

The collection also includes the preparatory bas-reliefs for the bronze doors of Salzburg and Rotterdam Cathedrals.

The surrounding garden is home to various sculptures. One is "Nastro" (Ribbon), with its curving sinuosity. In spite of the weight of the material it’s made from it seems to float in a circular movement.
