Lazio National Museums regional directorate goes to Paestum
The Regional Directorate National Museums Lazio is participating in the XXVI Mediterranean Archaeological Tourism Exchange, which will take place in Paestum from Thursday, October 31 to Sunday, November 3, 2024. It will be an opportunity to promote Lazio's state-owned archaeological cultural sites and to meet professionals and enthusiasts from all over the Mediterranean and beyond, in a unique and stimulating context!
DRNM Lazio will have a dedicated corner inside the Ministry of Culture booth, where you will find our staff ready to welcome you and present all our initiatives.
On Friday, November 1 at 10:40 a.m. we look forward to seeing you in Paestum with the conference "Accessible Archaeology in Lazio. The projects of the Lazio National Museums Regional Directorate in the context of the PNRR 1.2 investment," by Director Elisabetta Scungio and the Archaeology Officers of the Lazio National Museums Regional Directorate. The analysis of the variety of cultural places in Lazio will be an opportunity to illustrate the different problems in the implementation of physical and cognitive accessibility, presenting some of the project solutions implemented, thanks to the funding of the PNRR Investment 1.2.

On Thursday, October 31 at 3:30 p.m. we look forward to seeing you in Paestum with the interactive workshop "Play is serious! Even for children in the ancient world" curated by Romina Laurito, technical assistant, archaeologist - DRMN Lazio Educational Services. The activity takes its cue from the temporary exhibition "Roll the dice! Board Games between Archaeology and Territory at the Archaeological Museum of Agro Falisco" currently underway at Forte Sangallo in Civita Castellana curated by DRMN Lazio and Sapienza University of Rome, which tells the public about the parts of games found in Faliscan funerary contexts and presents the studies and genesis of board games. It will be a journey to discover the countless varieties of games spread among both children and adults, starting with archaeological evidence and then reproducing the most beloved board games.
On Friday, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. we look forward to seeing you in Paestum with our experimental archaeology workshops "Metallurgy in Antiquity. The techniques of embossed decoration," together with Daniela De Angelis, director of the Museum of Roman Ships in Nemi and Archaeotechnologist Ettore Pizzuti. The workshop is intended for teens and adults to discover ancient toreutics, used for the creation of objects of use and personal ornaments. Participants will be able to experiment with techniques used in antiquity and recreate objects with embossed decorations on ancient models, made of bronze and copper.
