Saturday night at Altieri Palace

For special evening openings from 8 to 11 p.m. (last entry at 10 p.m.) on the occasion of European Heritage Days and in conjunction with the Porcini Mushroom Festival in Oriolo Romano, free guided tours are scheduled.

First event on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 9 p.m.: "The Double in Art: Copies, Replicas and Derivations in the Collections of Palazzo Altieri," curated by Valeria Di Giuseppe Di Paolo (Director of Palazzo Altieri).

 Artistic copying takes on different functions and values depending on the purposes and purposes for which it is produced. What is the relationship to the original model? What happens to the work of art devoid of invention? What was the judgment on copying in the seventeenth century? A fascinating phenomenon to be investigated through the reading of selected portraits housed in the Museum.

Second event on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 9 p.m.: "Fashion and Costume in the Time of the Altieri," curated by Veronica Piombarolo (DRM-Lazio).

Armor and uniforms, precious fabrics and fluffy wigs, ribbons and jewelry: how the elements of fashion in the second half of the 17th century defined social roles and functions in portraiture of power. Discovering the stories and adventures of illustrious figures through an itinerary related to costume and the most fashionable trends.
