On May 6 and 7, 2024, on the occasion of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Luigi Einaudi's birth and the 45th anniversary of the founding of the University of Tuscia, the University and the Regional Museums Directorate of Lazio, in collaboration with the National Committee for the Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Luigi Einaudi, are organizing an event to commemorate the memory of one of the greatest Italian statesmen and economists of the 20th century.
Under the patronage of the Einaudi Turin Foundation, in collaboration with the Museum Headquarters of Palazzo Farnese, the Caprarola Committee for Luigi Einaudi and the Municipality of Caprarola, the initiative will be held at Palazzo Farnese in Caprarola, a site of great historical value and inextricably linked to Luigi Einaudi's life during his presidency, and will take place over two days full of cultural and academic events.
The morning of Monday, May 6, will be dedicated to "Einaudi Days at Palazzo Farnese": students and scholars, scholars and citizens will be able to learn about Luigi Einaudi through lectures, screenings of period films and guided tours of the most significant places in Palazzo Farnese that featured President Einaudi and his wife.
The afternoon of May 6 and the morning of Tuesday, May 7, will host the "National Study Conference" entitled "Luigi Einaudi Builder of the Republic and United Europe (1944-1955)," where academic experts will present in-depth analyses of Einaudi's role in the construction of republican Italy and the European project. The two working sessions will explore the political and economic context of postwar Italy, the drafting of the Constitution, Einaudi's commitment to a united Europe, and the role of the presidential couple, Luigi Einaudi and Donna Ida, in the political and cultural history of the country.
The Technical-Scientific Committee, composed of distinguished academics and institutional representatives from various institutions and cultural centers throughout Italy, will ensure the insights, under the scientific direction of Unitus professors , Sante Cruciani and Maurizio Ridolfi.
Supporters of the initiative include the regional director Museums Lazio, Stefano Petrocchi, the official in charge of Palazzo Farnese, Adele Trani, the mayor of Caprarola, Angelo Borgna, and the president of the Caprarola per Einaudi Committee, Anna Paolelli.
The event will be graced with the distinguished presence of Roberto Einaudi, honorary chairman of the National Committee for the 150th Anniversary of Luigi Einaudi, who will open the conference with a prologue on "Exile and Europe," and Luca Einaudi, who will give a talk titled "Luigi Einaudi and Post-War Reconstruction, a History to Remember."
For the University's institutional greetings, Magnifico Rettore Stefano Ubertini, Director of the Department of Economics, Engineering, Society and Enterprise (DEIM) Tiziana Laureti and Director of the Department of Linguistic-Literary, Historical-Philosophical and Legal Studies (DISTU) Luca Lorenzetti will be present.
