Special Opening Hours for the Ponte Real Ferdinando
Minturno (LT)
Special openings are back at the Ponte Real Ferdinando in the Minturnae Archaeological Park, one of the most fascinating examples of Bourbon engineering and a monument of particular significance to the region’s cultural heritage.
Opened in 1832 at the behest of Ferdinand II and designed by engineer Luigi Giura, the bridge represents a milestone in the history of engineering: it is, in fact, the first iron-chain suspension bridge in continental Europe.
Located on the border between Lazio and Campania, the Ponte Real Ferdinando is now a site of great historical and scenic interest.
The bridge will be open to the public on the following dates:
Sunday, September 6 – free admission
Sunday, September 13
Sunday, September 27
Sunday, October 4 – free admission
Sunday, October 18
Sunday, November 1 – free admission
Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Admission is free on the first Sunday of each month as part of the “Sunday at the Museum” initiative (September 6, October 4, November 1); on other days, admission is included in the ticket for the Minturnae Archaeological Park, priced at €5.00 for general admission and €2.00 for reduced-rate admission (ages 18 to 25); other discounts and free admission apply in accordance with current regulations.
