On the occasion of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, the Olympic Flame will pass through numerous iconic locations in Lazio, including some cities and sites managed by the Lazio Regional Directorate of National Museums. The Flame will be accompanied by the Cultural Olympiad, an initiative that celebrates art, culture, and sport throughout Italy.
December 7 – Viterbo will be the last city on the second leg of the Olympic Torch Relay, which will pass through the city. To mark this event, the National Etruscan Museum of Rocca Albornoz, in collaboration with Archeoares, is organizing a guided tour for families at 4:30 p.m. on the theme of sport. This is also a unique opportunity to discover an artifact not normally visible to the public, a Panathenaic amphora, symbol of the Olympic competitions in ancient times.
December 26 – the Flame returns to Lazio for stage XIX and, among other cities, will also pass through Minturno, Formia, and Sabaudia, ending in Latina.
December 27 – The Flame will arrive in Cassino, where it will make a technical stop at the Abbey of Montecassino. Between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m., it will be possible to see and follow the exciting passage of the Flame during its journey from Cassino to the Abbey for stage no. 20, which will continue on to Benevento.
