Praeneste. The Rediscovery of the Ancient City between the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries is the title of the exhibition that opened onFeb. 11, 2023, in the splendid setting of the Forum Buildings Complex in Regina Margherita Square, which reopened a few months ago.

The exhibition will be enriched from July 7 with a new, important section, thanks to the collaboration between the Lazio Regional Museums Directorate and the National Roman Museum.
The "Depositi (re)scoperti...a Palestrina" project is the result of an important agreement between the National Roman Museum and the Lazio Regional Museums Directorate, which will allow the many artifacts usually kept in the deposits to be given a new voice through a series of short but unprecedented exhibitions.
A real "museum within a museum" the one enclosed in the more than thirty rooms that now constitute the storerooms of the National Roman Museum and that guard a very rich heritage, unexpected in quantity and historical-artistic quality: sculptures, mosaics, frescoes, terracotta, marble and bronze finds, unearthed from the institution of Roma Capitale until today.

In this stage of the project, a fragment of the Fasti Prenestini, a calendar of the Prenestine Marcus Verrius Flaccus, returns after decades to its place of origin, where it can be admired until the end of the exhibition, which has been extended until Sept. 30, 2023.
