Press Release.
A study colloquium entitled "Palazzo Marchesi Campanari in Veroli: a new museum for the
archaeological heritage."
It will discuss the project aimed at creating a new national archaeological museum in the city of Veroli (FR) and the exhibition "Ancient Italic Peoples: the Ernici, the Volsci and the Others" set up in the same city inside the Marchesi Campanari Palace.
The exhibition, inaugurated last Dec. 22, in fact represents the first important step in a project path, shared between institutes of the Ministry of Culture and local authorities operating in the area, directed at establishing a new national museum dedicated to the territory and life of the Italic peoples who lived among the Ernici mountains, the valleys of the Sacco and Liri rivers and the Pontine plain.
During the meeting, organized by the Central Institute for Archaeology (ICA) for the cycle of "Discourses on Method," general directors and managers of the offices of the Ministry of Culture, the mayor of Veroli, archaeological and architectural officials who make up the specially appointed technical table and representatives of the architectural firm in charge of the design will expound on the design lines of the layout and discuss the connections between the issues of the protection of archaeological heritage, research, enhancement and communication, also in relation to the needs of local communities. An informed knowledge of history and material traces of the past, in fact, is the essential basis for engaging the public not only of insiders, but also of enthusiasts, schools and those who carry out activities to promote the area.

The program of the meeting, which will be introduced by Elena Calandra, director of the Central Institute for Archaeology (ICA), will feature Luigi La Rocca and Massimo Osanna, respectively head of the General Directorate for Archaeology Fine Arts and Landscape and the General Directorate for Museums, Stefano Petrocchi, head of the Regional Directorate for Museums of Lazio, and Simone Cretaro, Mayor of Veroli, who will frame the organizational and collaborative aspects between the MiC offices and the local administrations involved.
This will be followed by an illustration of the project by the working group composed of Valeria Acconcia (ICA), Lara Anniboletti (DG-MU), Claudio Borgognoni (DG-MU), Alessandra Gobbi(DG-MU), Ursula Piccone (DRM-LAZIO) and Daniela Quadrino (SABAP-FR-LT). Chiara Bonanni, from the Decima Casa studio, will explain the technical aspects of the exhibition layout and perspectives related to the design of the museum, taken care of by the team of architects under her and Guglielmo Malizia's coordination. Finally, Francesca Della Porta, director of the Veroli Civic Archaeological Museum, will address the issue of communication and education in the Municipal Museums and cultural venues of the Municipality.

Admission will be allowed while seats last. The event will be broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Central Institute for Archaeology.
